Brooklyn rapper Gravy, who portrays late rapper Notorious B.I.G. in his biopic Notorious, is reportedly headed to court later this month for allegedly assaulting his wife.

According to The New York Post, Gravy (born Jamal Woolard) was arrested last year for allegedly slapping his wife at their New York home during an argument.

Gravy would be charged with misdemeanor assault, menacing and harassment as a result of the incident.

Court papers obtained by The Post claim that Gravy admitted to assaulting his wife, Trina Younger.

"She wouldn't stop pushing me, so I snuffed her," Gravy allegedly told cops.

Gravy's mother-in-law, who is currently staying with the couple during the Notorious' opening weeks, says she was unaware of the incident and doesn’t believe the charges,

"I know he wouldn't hit her," said Roslyn Younger. "He's not like that. Most definitely, they have a good relationship. That's impossible. I think it's made up. He's a loving husband and I never heard of anything like that before in my life."

Gravy, who could not be reached for comment, is due to appear in court on January 29th to face the charges.
